Food Supplements to watch in 2010

• Coconut oil will sweep through the world market like harmattan bush fire

• Co-enzyme Q10 will become a standard daily food supplement and therapeutic agent

• Omega-3 fish oil will profit immensely form increasing knowledge that omega-6 fatty acid dominance over omega-3 fatty acid in the diet is a major cause of many diseases, such as heart damage and arthritis.

This column reported with excitement a few weeks ago that, after about 50 years of painting up coconut oil as a bad oil which may cause blocked arteries, hypertension, heart attacks and strokes, Europeans and Americans have just discovered this was a business campaign of the corn and soya bean oil industries in America to block coconut oil in the world market, and are now singing a new tune. That new tune removes coconut oil from the western media hit list.

Now, there are about 70 scientific investigations which support the consumption of coconut oil for weight management, reducing the viral load in HIV/AIDS, controlling the dangerous cholesterol and for improving count of the friendly cholesterol.
